Funeral: Hon. Major bids farewell to late AKULGA PDP chairman
The Member representing Akuku-Toru Constituency 1, and Deputy Chief Whip of the Rivers State 9th House of Assembly, Hon. Major Jack has this Saturday bid farewell to the deceased Chairman of the Akuku-Toru Chapter of the People's Democratic Party, Hon. Precious Jeremiah.
Hon. Jack who spoke during a valedictory session held in honour of late Hon. Precious at the Council Secretariat in Abonnema, Headquarters of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, described the demise of his late colleague as most unfortunate, noting that he was a distinguished lawmaker whose legislative impact was felt while they both represented their various wards in the 6th Akuku-Toru Legislative Assembly.
According to Jack, Precious who once held the office of the Deputy Leader from 2007—2010 was a dedicated grassroot legislator who built unity, trust and transparency in the discharge of his service to both members of the 6th AKULGA Assembly and to the people of the area.
The State lawmaker asserted that the deceased [Precious] lived a life that was pleased humanity, and trust that God, too, was pleased with his way of life while he lived.
Speaking further, Jack said that Precious was only a few weeks inaugurated as the Chairman of Akuku-Toru Chapter of the People's Democratic Party before his demise.
He said: " I inaugurated Hon. Precious Jeremiah as the PDP Chairman, AKULGA Chapter on the 6th day of May, 2020. I did not even have the faintest idea that he would leave so soon.
" Getting the news of his demise on the 22nd day of June, 2020 brings along pains and great grief to my heart.
" As the Chairman of our great Party in the area, Precious was a committed, trustworthy, dependable and a resourceful leader who championed the unity and of the PDP in the area.
" The People's Democratic Party family in his hometown Soku community, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area and humanity at large will miss him greatly.
" On behalf of my family and the good people of Akuku-Toru Constituency 1, I convey my sincerest condolences to the bereaved family and pray that God grant them the strength of character to absorb pains occasion by Precious' early passage to eternity.
" May his soul rest in peace," he added.
Late Precious had a briefly stay at the Akuku-Toru PDP secretariat shortly afterwards, where prayers were offered him and was later taken to his community, Soku, for burial proper.
The funeral was attended by the Secretary to Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the Rivers State State Chapter Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, His Excellency, Desmond Akawor.
Others include Hon. Rowland Sekibo, Executive Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, principal officers and members of the 9th Akuku-Toru Legislative Assembly, Acting Chairman of AKULGA PDP, Hon. Emmanuel Stephen, Daa3 Cluster Board Chairman, Hon. Christian Sekibo and other party stalwarts from the area.
Precious was 39 years of age before his demise.
